This policy covers everything that carries the COTN Radio name:
- the cotnradio.com website, in every language;
- the player app at app.html, including when it is installed to a home screen;
- the COTN Radio app for Android, on phones, Android Auto, Android Automotive and Google TV.
They differ in a few details, which are called out where they matter. It explains what data is collected, by whom, and why.
No account, no personal data
Listening requires no registration and no account. Nothing asks for your name, your email or your location, and neither the website nor the app contains advertising, behavioural analytics or advertising SDKs. The one exception is Google Analytics on the full website, described further down.
Connections that are opened to make it work
- streaming.smartradio.ch — delivers the live audio stream, and also publishes the public listener count the app shows. Like any audio server, it necessarily sees your device's IP address in order to send you the stream; COTN Radio does not receive or store that information.
- onlineradiobox.com — provides the "now playing" track name shown on the website. This is a read-only public API call; no data about you is sent to it beyond a standard web request.
- itunes.apple.com — looked up to find a track's album cover. The request carries only the artist and the title; no device or user identifier is sent. Apple's handling of it is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
- cotnradio.com — serves the pages, and for the Android app also the list of recorded DJ sets and the audio files themselves.
Rating a track
The two thumb buttons are optional, and nothing is sent anywhere until you press one. When you do, two separate things happen:
- Your own lists stay on your device. Liked and disliked tracks are kept in your browser's local storage — or, in the Android app, on the phone — and are never uploaded. Clearing the site data, or uninstalling the app, erases them, and no other device can see them.
- On the website, the rating itself is sent to cotnradio.com, so the station knows what its audience thinks. What travels is the artist and title, whether the thumb was up or down, the time, and a random identifier this browser invented for itself. That identifier exists for one reason — so that pressing the same thumb twice counts once. It is tied to no name, no email, no account, and no other site.
Only aggregate counts are ever shown — how many thumbs up and down a track received — and only to the station. No listener can see another listener's ratings. Press a thumb again to withdraw a rating and the record is deleted outright; to be rid of the identifier as well, clear this site's data in your browser.
The Android app sends no ratings at all. There, both lists are simply kept on the phone. The single exception is the station's own section, below.
What the Android app keeps on your phone
All of this stays on the device, is never uploaded, and goes when the app is uninstalled:
- the last station you listened to, so playback can resume in the car;
- the list of recently played tracks;
- the tracks you gave a thumb up or a thumb down.
The permissions the app asks for, and what each one is for:
- Internet and network state — receiving the audio stream.
- Foreground service — carrying on playing when the app is not in front, as any music player does.
- Notifications — showing the playback controls. Refuse it and the app still works.
- Wake lock — keeping playback alive with the screen off.
The station's own section
Both the website and the app contain a section that opens only by entering a code, meant for whoever curates the station's programming. Only after that code is entered, and only on that device, the two thumb lists are kept in step with cotnradio.com so they can be reached from either. What travels is the artist, the title, which of the two thumbs, and the time — no device identifier, no location, no personal data. Withdrawing the code closes the link, and the device goes back to keeping everything to itself.
Without the code none of this applies: nothing leaves the device.
Google Analytics on the full website
The full cotnradio.com website (the pages you reach via "Full site") uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular. Google Analytics may set cookies or use device identifiers to collect approximate location (from IP address), device and browser type, and which pages were viewed. This data is processed by Google under Google's own privacy policy.
The player app (app.html) and the Android app do not load Google Analytics — it only applies if you tap through to the full website from within them.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser's cookie and tracking settings.
No advertising
COTN Radio has never carried advertising and doesn't use any ad networks. No data is shared with advertisers, and none is sold to anyone.
Children
COTN Radio is a general-audience lounge and chillout music service. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Since neither the player nor the app collects personal data, there's generally nothing to request, correct, or delete on our side. Track ratings made on the website are the one thing stored here, and they carry no identity beyond the random identifier described above — withdraw a rating, or clear this site's data, and it is gone. Dove si comportano in modo diverso, è scritto. Qui trovi quali dati vengono trattati, da chi e perché.
Nessun account, nessun dato personale
Ascoltare non richiede registrazione né account. Non ti viene chiesto il nome, l'email o la posizione, e né il sito né l'app contengono pubblicità, strumenti di analisi del comportamento o SDK di tracciamento pubblicitario. L'unica eccezione è Google Analytics sul sito completo, di cui si parla più sotto.
Le connessioni che servono a farlo funzionare
- streaming.smartradio.ch — trasmette l'audio in diretta, e pubblica anche il numero pubblico di ascoltatori che l'app mostra. Come qualunque server audio, per mandarti lo stream riceve necessariamente l'indirizzo IP del tuo dispositivo; COTN Radio non lo riceve e non lo conserva.
- onlineradiobox.com — fornisce il titolo del brano in onda mostrato sul sito. È una chiamata pubblica in sola lettura: non le viene inviato nessun dato su di te oltre a una normale richiesta web.
- itunes.apple.com — interrogato per trovare la copertina di un brano. La richiesta porta con sé solo artista e titolo; nessun identificativo del dispositivo o dell'utente. Il trattamento da parte di Apple è regolato dall'informativa privacy di Apple.
- cotnradio.com — serve le pagine e, per l'app Android, anche l'elenco delle repliche e i file audio.
Votare un brano
I due pulsanti a pollice sono facoltativi, e finché non ne premi uno non parte niente. Quando lo premi succedono due cose distinte:
- Le tue liste restano sul tuo dispositivo. I brani con pollice su e pollice giù stanno nella memoria locale del browser — o, nell'app Android, sul telefono — e non vengono mai caricati altrove. Svuotando i dati del sito, o disinstallando l'app, spariscono; nessun altro dispositivo può vederli.
- Sul sito, il voto in sé viene inviato a cotnradio.com, così la radio sa cosa ne pensa chi ascolta. Viaggiano artista e titolo, quale dei due pollici, l'ora, e un identificatore casuale che il browser si è inventato da solo. Quell'identificatore esiste per una ragione sola: far sì che premere due volte lo stesso pollice conti una volta. Non è legato a nessun nome, nessuna email, nessun account e nessun altro sito.
Vengono mostrati solo conteggi aggregati — quanti pollici su e quanti giù ha preso un brano — e solo alla radio. Nessun ascoltatore può vedere i voti di un altro. Premendo di nuovo il pollice il voto si ritira e la riga viene cancellata; per liberarti anche dell'identificatore, svuota i dati di questo sito dal browser.
L'app Android non invia nessun voto. Lì le due liste restano semplicemente sul telefono. L'unica eccezione è la sezione riservata, qui sotto.
Cosa l'app Android tiene sul telefono
Tutto questo resta sul dispositivo, non viene inviato a nessuno e sparisce disinstallando l'app:
- l'ultima stazione ascoltata, per riprendere la riproduzione in auto;
- l'elenco dei brani passati di recente;
- i brani a cui hai dato il pollice su o il pollice giù.
I permessi che l'app chiede, e a cosa serve ciascuno:
- Internet e stato della rete — ricevere lo stream audio.
- Servizio in primo piano — continuare a suonare quando l'app non è in primo piano, come fa qualunque lettore musicale.
- Notifiche — mostrare i comandi di riproduzione. Se la neghi, l'app funziona lo stesso.
- Wake lock — evitare che la riproduzione si interrompa a schermo spento.
La sezione riservata alla redazione
Sia il sito sia l'app contengono una sezione che si apre solo digitando un codice, ed è pensata per chi cura la programmazione della radio. Solo dopo aver inserito quel codice, e solo su quel dispositivo, le due liste dei pollici vengono allineate con cotnradio.com, così da ritrovarle da entrambe le parti. Viaggiano artista, titolo, quale dei due pollici e l'ora: nessun identificativo del dispositivo, nessuna posizione, nessun dato personale. Ritirando il codice il collegamento si chiude, e il dispositivo torna a tenersi tutto per sé.
Senza il codice, niente di tutto questo si applica: non esce niente dal dispositivo.
Google Analytics sul sito completo
Il sito completo cotnradio.com (le pagine che raggiungi da "Sito completo") usa Google Analytics per capire quante persone lo visitano e quali pagine sono più lette. Google Analytics può impostare cookie o usare identificatori del dispositivo per raccogliere la posizione approssimativa (dall'indirizzo IP), il tipo di dispositivo e di browser, e quali pagine sono state viste. Questi dati sono trattati da Google secondo la informativa privacy di Google.
L'app del lettore (app.html) e l'app Android non caricano Google Analytics: vale solo se da lì passi al sito completo.
Puoi disattivare il tracciamento di Google Analytics con il componente aggiuntivo per la disattivazione, o regolando le impostazioni su cookie e tracciamento del tuo browser.
Nessuna pubblicità
COTN Radio non ha mai avuto pubblicità e non usa nessun circuito pubblicitario. Nessun dato viene condiviso con inserzionisti, e nessun dato viene venduto a nessuno.
Minori
COTN Radio è un servizio di musica lounge e chillout per un pubblico generico. Non è indirizzato ai bambini e non raccoglie consapevolmente dati di minori.

Dato che né il lettore né l'app raccolgono dati personali, in genere non c'è nulla da richiedere, correggere o cancellare da parte nostra. I voti espressi sul sito sono l'unica cosa qui conservata, e non portano con sé nessuna identità oltre all'identificatore casuale descritto sopra: ritira il voto, o svuota i dati del sito, e sparisce.
